About the event
Aitkin County not only supports and challenges its employees to bring their voice to the table – it also encourages dialogue, where two or more voices are exchanged in a way that runs deeper than simply swapping information. Dialogue is about getting past our own views, biases, and hidden agendas to reach a common understanding that’s bigger than what any one of us might think up alone. In other words, Aitkin County employees do more than talking and listening – we actively explore and connect with the deeper meanings behind what we say.
Imagine everyone sitting in a circle, taking turns to talk, and really listening to each other, not just waiting for their turn to respond, or thinking about how to argue back. This approach helps people open their minds, challenge their own assumptions, and share insights. From these shared insights, real, practical solutions and new ideas can emerge. It's about creating a space where everyone's voice adds to a bigger picture, helping us all see things in new ways.
